Tryphena and Tryphosa
Fausset's Bible Dictionary
Christian women at Rome, saluted by Paul as then "labouring in the Lord" (Romans 16:12). Possibly they were deaconesses. The columbaria of Caesar's house in the Vigna Codini near Porta S. Sebastiano contain the names Tryphena, Philologus, Amplias, and Julia, mentioned in this chapter (Wordsworth, Tour in Italy, 2:17).
