From Wikipedia: The Altar of Incense (mizbach haketoros) (Exodus 30:1-2 Samuel :), called also the Golden Altar (mizbach hazahav) (Exodus 39:38; Numbers 4:11), and the Inner Altar (mizbach hap'nimi) stood inside, in the Holy Place "before the Veil that is by the Ark of the Covenant."
