Verse 1

5:1 knife; (f-10) Elsewhere 'sword.'

Verse 2

5:2 fire (a-9) Lit. 'light,' and so in Isaiah 31:9 .

Verse 4

5:4 it (b-24) i.e. still from the third part last mentioned. see Zechariah 13:8 ,Zechariah 13:9 .

Verse 6

5:6 ordinances (c-29) Or 'judgments;' so ch. 11.12; 'manner' in 2 Kings 17:26 ,2 Kings 17:33 . statutes, (d-35) choq , as Exodus 12:24 .

Verse 7

5:7 ordinances, (c-32) Or 'judgments;' so ch. 11.12; 'manner' in 2 Kings 17:26 ,2 Kings 17:33 . statutes, (d-27) choq , as Exodus 12:24 .

Verse 11

5:11 verily (e-9) Lit. 'if ... not.' A strong form of solemn declaration. see Numbers 14:23 .

Verse 15

5:15 astonishment (f-14) Or 'desolation,' as ch. 33.28,29, where both words are used.
