אַחֲרִית f.

(1)  the latter part, extreme part, Psalms 139:9. More frequently used of time.

(a) end, Deuteronomy 11:12 issue, event, latter state, Job 8:7, 42:12 Proverbs 5:4, אַחֲרִיתָהּ מָרָה “her end (the adulterous woman’s) is bitter,” i.e. the latter state of those whom she seduces; comp. Proverbs 23:32. Sometimes used of a happy issue or event, Proverbs 23:18, 24:14.

(b) latter time, future time. The prophetic phrase should be noticed, בְּאַחֲרִית הַיָּמִים “in future days” [prop. the end of the days, or latter days], Isaiah 2:2; Genesis 49:1; Micah 4:1; Numbers 24:14; Daniel 10:14.

(2) [“concr.”] posterity, Psalms 109:13; Amos 4:2, 9:1 Daniel 11:4.
