שָׂנֵא fut. יִשְׂנָא inf. abs. שָׂנֹא, constr. שְׂנֹא and שְׂנֹאת (Syr. ܣܢܐܳ, Arab. شَنَأَ) to hate, whether persons, Psalms 5:6, 31:7 Deuteronomy 22:13; 2 Samuel 13:15, 22 2 Samuel 13:22 or things, Isaiah 1:14; Psalms 11:5; Proverbs 1:22. Part. שׂוֹנֵא subst. a hater, an enemy, Psalms 35:19, 38:20 with suff. שׂנְאוֹ one who hates him, Deuteronomy 7:10 also שׂנֵא לוֹ Deuteronomy 4:42, 19:4, Deuteronomy 19:6, 11 Deuteronomy 19:11; Joshua 20:5.
