a. divan or circle of familiar friends, בַּחוּרִים׳ס Jeremiah 6:11, משׂחקים׳מ Jeremiah 15:17; ׳מְתֵי סוֺדִ Job 19:19 men of my intimate circle; ׅ׳עמד בסוד (י Jeremiah 23:18,22 in the intimate circle of ׳י; בסוד אלוה Job 15:8; in bad sense, מְרֵעִים׳ס Psalm 64:3.
b. assembly, company, יְשָׁרִים׳ס Psalm 111:1 ("" עֵדָה; סוֺד עמי Ezekiel 13:9; קדשׁים׳ס Psalm 89:8 (of angels); in bad sense, בסוד בא Genesis 49:6 ("" קהל).
2 counsel, taken by those in familiar conversation:
a. counsel itself, מחשׁבות באין סוד Proverbs 15:22 thoughts without counsel; of intimate friendship, Psalm 55:15 נַמְתִּיק סוֺד; in bad sense, of crafty plotting Psalm 83:4 יַעֲרִימוּ סוֺד

c. familiar converse with God, intimacy, ׳י׳ליראיו ס Psalm 25:14 intimacy with ׳י have those who fear him ("" ברית), אתיֿשׁרים סודוֺ Proverbs 3:22 with the upright is his intimacy; here also Job 29:4 (si vera lectio) Di De and others; Siegf Du compare Buhl Lex בְּסֹךְ when Eloah sheltered my tent.
סוֹד m. prop. a couch, cushion, triclinium, on which persons recline (for יְסוֹד, Arab. وَسَادُ a cushion, a pillow, from יָסַד Niph. No. 2, which see). Henee
(1) a sitting together, an assembly, either of friends familiarly conversing, Jeremiah 6:11, 15:17 or of judges consulting together (hence used of God as consulting with the powers above, [God’s counsels all proceed from himself; He may communicate them to others, but he does not consult with them], Psal. 89:8 Job 15:8; Jeremiah 23:18); or of the wicked debating evil counsels, Psal. 64:3 [of the upright] 111:l.
(2) deliberation, counsel, Proverbs 15:22, בְּאֵין סוֹד “without deliberation;” opp. to בְּרֹב יוֹעֲצִים Psal. 83:4.
(3) familiar conversation, familiar acquaintance, Psalms 55:15. Job 19:19, מְתֵי סוֹדִי “my familiar acquaintance.” סוֹד יְהֹוָה familiar acquaintance with Jehovah, i.e. his favour. [There is no reason for departing in this phrase from the ordinary meaning, counsel.]. Psalms 25:14; Proverbs 3:32; Job 29:4.
(4) a secret; whence גִּלָּה סוֹד, גָּלָה to reveal a secret, Proverbs 11:13, 20:19 25:9 Amos 3:7.
