מָנַע to keep back, to restrain ([“Arab. مذع Chald. id.”], cogn. are מָאַן, and Ethiop. መነነ፡ to reject, to cast aside. [“The primary syllable is נע, which has a negative force; see נוֹא.” Thes.]) Ezekiel 31:15, וָאֶמְנַע נַהֲרוֹתֶיהָ “and I will restrain its floods.”
