III. [מָלַח] verb denominative salt, season;
Qal Imperfect 2 masculine singular תִּמְלָ֑ךְ followed by accusative Leviticus 2:13 (object offering).
Pu`al Participle מְמֻלָּח Exodus 30:35 salted, i.e. the incense (see Di.)
Hoph`al Perfect 2 feminine singular + Infinitive absolute הָמְלֵחַ לֹא הֻמְלַ֫חַתּ Ezekiel 16:4, i.e. rubbed or washed with salt (of infant, in personification).
[מְלַח] verb denominative with accusative of congnate meaning with verb, eat salt; —
Pe`al Perfect 1 plural מְלַחְנָא Ezra 4:14 we have eaten the salt of the palace (so most), i.e. have assumed obligations of loyalty, compare M69* K§ 71,2 (and Syriac 
be intimate with PS2134); Str (after Nes MM 30f.) thinks noun with suffix: our salt is the salt of the palace.
מָלַח a root, ἅπαξ λεγομ. Isaiah 51:6. I suppose the primary signification to have been that of slipperiness, smoothness, and softness (comp. transp. חָמַל, also ملق to smooth, to soothe, Greek μαλακός, μειλίχιος (μέλι), ἀμελγω, Lat. mulceo, mulgeo, and a great many cognate roots, the third radical of which is a dental or a sibilant, מָלַט, מָלַץ and those cited under these words), Hence ملخ Conj. III. to flatter, i.q. ملق, مَلِيخ feeble, weak (from the idea of softness), مَلَّاخُ fugitive (from the idea of slipping away, comp. מָלַט), and Heb. in Niph. [In Thes. the primary idea is given “i.q. מָרַח to thresh (with r softened into l).”]
Niphal, to glide away, to flee, to vanish. Isai. 51:6, כִּי שָׁמַיִם כֶּעָשָׁן נִמְלָחֽוּ “for the heavens shall vanish like smoke.” Besides in the root ملخ there is the active signification to draw, to pull (ziehen, zerren), whether with the hands or with the teeth, compare መለኀ፡ to draw, to pull, to seize, and hence the Heb. מְלָחִים rags.
II. מָלַח (Arab. مَلَحَ) to salt, denom. from מָלַח. Leviticus 2:13.
Pual, pass. Exodus 30:35.
Hophal הֻמְלַח, inf. absol. הָמְלֵחַ to be washed with salt water, as a new-born babe, Ezekiel 16:4.
