I. אוה
1 Arabic betake oneself to a place for dwelling, etc.;
2 id., be tenderly inclined.
אֵד m., exhalation, or vapour of the ground whence clouds are formed, so called from surrounding and covering the earth like a vail. [From the root אוּד No. 1.] This derivation is confirmed by the Arabic, in which إِيَادُ, from the root آدَ med. Ye, to surround (comp. אוּד No. 1), is whatever guards and strengthens anything, defence, bark, vail, also atmosphere. To this answers the Ch. אֵיד vapour. Genesis 2:6; Job 36:27.
