 I. רָחֵל noun feminine Isaiah 53:7 ewe; — absolute ׳ר Isaiah 53:7 (in simile, "" שֶׂה); plural רְחֵלִים Genesis 32:15 (E; + עִזִּים, אֵילִים), Song of Solomon 6:6 (in simile); suffix רְחֵלֶיךָ וְעִזֶּיךָ Genesis 31:38 (E).

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

רָחֵל an unused root, perhaps of the same or similar meaning to רָחַם to cherish. Secondary and denom. is the Arab. رخل Conj. V. to possess lambs. [In Thes. this is compared with رَحَلَ to wander, to journey, especially with camels.]

רָחֵל f.

(1)  a ewe, Genesis 31:38, 32:15 hence any sheep, Isaiah 53:7; Song of Solomon 6:6. (Arab. رَخِلُ, رِخْلُ a female lamb.)

(2) [Rachel, Rahel], pr.n. of the wife of Jacob, Genesis 29:6; Jeremiah 31:15.
