P Strass I. 42.17 (census return—A.D. 310) ὄμνυμει θεοὺς ἅπαντας. . . μηδένα ἀποκεκρυφέναι. Syll 801 (Ephesus, vi/B.C.) has the verb thrice, of a bird flying out of sight : this early Ionic lies far behind the Hellenistic period, but may be added to the literary record of the verb, which we have not noticed in our sources. Vettius Valens has it p. 15.26 (not in index) ζητητικαὶ τῶν ἀποκεκρυμμένων —cf. Paul’s use of the participle.
