Av. 839; π. ἠχυρωμένος clay mixed with chaff for use as mortar, IG 22.463.42, cf. 5(1)l.c., LXX Genesis 11:3; εὐώδεϊ πηλῷ, of earth on which wine has been poured, Tryph. 349; Βρομιώδεα π. φύρησαν . . πολυμερῶς (= πολυσχέδως, Hesych.) denotes ";in many portions"; as distinguished from πολυτρόπως, ";in many manners"; (Hebrews 1:1). For the adj., as in Sap 7:22, cf. P Leid Wvii. 41 (ii/iii A.D.) (= II. p. 105) where the god Fire is described as ἀόρατον καὶ πολυμερῆ. Both adj. and adv. are common in Vett. Val., e.g. p. 257.19 ἐπεὶ οὖν τὸ συνεκτικώτατον κεφάλαιόν ἐστι τὸ περὶ χρόνων ζωῆς, πολυμερῶς [τε ] οὕτως ἐν τοῖς ἔμπροσθεν συντέτακται.
