Vocabulary of the Greek NT

πληροφορία does not occur in classical writers or the LXX, and in the NT appears as a rule to have passed into the meaning ";full assurance,"; ";confidence"; (1 Thessalonians 1:5, Colossians 2:2, Hebrews 10:22) : cf. Clem. R Cor 42 μετὰ πληροφορίας πνεύματος ἁγίου ἐξῆλθον εὐαγγελιζόμενοι. In Hebrews 6:11 the meaning is less subjective, ";fulness"; (";impletio sive consummatio,"; Grotius). The only instance of the subst. we can cite from the papyri is P Giss I. 87.25 τ ]ὴν πληροφο [ρίαν, unfortunately in a very broken context.
