late impf. – έκρυβον Luke 1:24 : — conceal entirely, Luc. DMort. 10.8, Eun. Hist. p.248 D., etc.: — Med., conceal oneself from, τινα D.L. 6.61 .
περικρύπτω: 2 aorist περιέκρυβον (on this fore cf. Alexander Buttmann (1873) Ausf. Spr. i., p. 400f; ii., p. 226; (WHs Appendix, p. 170; others make it (in Luke as below) a late imperfect; cf. Buttmann, 40 (35); Sophocles' Lexicon, under the word κρυβῶ; Veitch, under the word κρύπτω)); to conceal on all sides or entirely, to hide: ἑαυτόν, to keep oneself at home, Luke 1:24. ";a flooding,"; ";flood."; On the form πλημύρα in Luke 6:48 DW al., as the older spelling, see Moulton Gr. ii. p. 101. The verb is found with a single μ in OGIS 666.8 (A.D. 54–68), where Egypt is described as πλημύρουσα πᾶσιν ἀγαθοῖς owing to the good deeds of the praefect Tiberius Claudius Balbillus, and in P Lond 924.10 (A.D. 187–188) (= III. p. 134) πλημυρέντος τοῦ Νείλου. For double μ see Vett. Val. p. 344.13 f. and Artem. pp. 123.21 (of a well) πλημμυροῦντος τοῦ ὕδατος and 124.8 (of springs) ὕδατι καθαρῳ πλημμυροῦσαι.
