Vocabulary of the Greek NT

lit. ";bring in from the side,"; hence ";introduce"; (2 Peter 2:1) : cf. P Tor I. 1viii. 4 (B.C. 116) προεφέρετο ἀλλότριον εἶναι τὸ παρεισαγόμενον ὑπ᾽ αὐτοῦ, where παρα - does not convey any idea of secrecy or stealth, cf. s.v. παρεισφέρω. This applies also to the verb in Aristeas 20 εἴ τινες προῆσαν ἢ μετὰ ταῦτα παρεισήχθησαν εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν, ";any who were there before or had since been introduced into the kingdom"; (Thackeray), and in Apol. Aristides 8.
