P Lond 191.12 (inventory of furniture—A.D. 103–117) (= II. p. 265) λόγχαι ἔννεα. In an account of cures at the Asclepieium at Epidaurus, Syll 802.95 ff. (iii/B.C.), we find the following—Εὔιππος λόγχαν ἔτη ἐφόρησε ἓξ ἐν τᾶι γνάθωι · ἐγκοιτασθέντος δ᾽ (α)ὐτοῦ ἐξελὼν τὰν λ [ό ]γχαν ὁ θεὸς εἰς τὰς χῆράς οἱ ἔδωκε. ἁμέρας δὲ γενομένας ὑγιὴς ἐξῆρπε, τὰν λόγχαν ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν ἔχων : cf. ib. 803.65 (iii/B.C.)[On Incubation or the cure of disease in pagan temples and Christian churches, see Mary Hamilton’s essay with that title, London, 1906.]
