Preisigke 1046 (i/A.D.) Σεραπίων ἥκω πρὸς Σέραπι (ν) πατέρ (α) illustrates a common formula. Of greater importance is the use of the verb in relation to worship, as in John 6:37, in such a passage as OGIS 186.7 (B.C. 62) ἥκω πρὸς τὴν κ [υ ]ρίαν Ἶσιν : see Deissmann LAE, p. 356 n.6. The aor. ἧξα, as in Revelation 2:25, may be cited from P Oxy VI. 933.13 (late ii/A.D.) . . . μεγ ̣[ά ]λην ἑορτὴν ἧ ̣ξ ̣α, ";I came to the great festival,"; and for the use of the perf. form owing to the perf. meaning, as ἥκασιν in Mark 8:3 אADN, cf. P Par 48.9 (B.C. 153) (= Witkowski, 2 p. 91) ἥκαμεν εἰς τὸ Σεραπιεῖον βολάμενοι συνμῖξαί σοι, P Grenf II, 36.18 (B.C. 95) καλῶς ἡμῖν ὧδε ἢ ἐν Διοσπόλει ἐὰν αἱρῆσθε πυρὸν ἀγοράσαι ἥκατε, also P Par 35.30 (B.C163) ἀπεκρίθησαν ἡμῖν φήσαντες ἐπ᾽ ἐνεχυρασίαν ἡκένα [ι : see further Mayser Gr. p. 372.
