I revel in, delight in, c. dat., ἐξουσία E. Fr. 362.24; γαμηλίῳ λέχει Men. 535.8; ἡδοναῖς D.S. 19.71, cf. Luc. JTr. 21; in good sense, δικαιοσύνῃ Ph. 2.258; of persons, Πελοπίδᾳ Plu. Pel. 30; ἔν τινι D.C. 65.20; in bad sense, ἐν ταῖς ἀγάπαις 2 Peter 2:13; κόμαι ἀνέμοις ἐνετρύφων it was playing in the wind, Chaerem. 1.7: abs., X. HG 4.1.30, Ph. 1.666.

ἐντρυφάω, ἐντρύφω; (see τρυφάω and τρυφή); to live in luxury, live delicately or luxuriously, to revel in: ἐν ταῖς ἀπάταις (L Tr text WH marginal reading ἀγάπαις, see ἀγάπη, 2) αὐτῶν (on the meaning see ἀπάτη), 2 Peter 2:13 (cf. Winers Grammar, § 52, 4, 5). (Xenophon, Hell. 4, 1, 30; Diodorus 19, 71; also to take delight in: ἐν ἀγαθοῖς, Isaiah 55:2; with the dative of thing, 4 Macc. 8:7; Herodian, 3, 5, 4 (2 edition, Bekker).)

Vocabulary of the Greek NT

For this verb = ";take delight in"; with dat. of person cf. Plut. Pelopidas 30 Πελοπίδᾳ δὲ οὕτω μὲν οὐκ ἐνετρύφησε. The verb construed with ἐν is found with a somewhat stronger meaning in its only NT occurrence, 2 Peter 2:13.
