Like the subst., κενόδοξος is an ἅπ. εἰρ. in the NT (Galatians 5:26). It is found once in Epictetus with the same meaning ";vainglorious,"; iii. 24. 43 ὁ προσποιούμενος τὰ μηδὲν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἔστω ἀλαζών, ἔστω κενόδοξος. Cf. also Vett. Val. p. 271.2 αἱροῦνται. . τῆς κενοδόξου κληρονομίας ἀπαλλαγῆναι.
