Italian musician of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries; born about 1468. Jacopo was an eminent violinist; his reputation is shown by the fact that in 1502 he played at the wedding of Lucrezia Borgia (Castiglioni, "Il Cortegiano," ). He held a prominent position at the court of Pope Leo X. Jacopo was also known as a handsome man, and is said to have been the original of Raphael's "Apollo on Parnassus" (Galleria Sciara, Rome).
