a Protestant theologian, was born at Strasburg, December 10, 1812. On publishing his Richard de Saint-Victor et la Thiologie Mystique, he was appointed professor of history in the Lycde Bonaparte; and both his L'Espa.qne Depuis le Regne de Philippe 11, etc. (Paris, 1844, 2 volumes), and his Histoite des Refugies Protestants de Paris (1853, 2 volumes) were crowned by the Academy. While preparing a second edition of the last work, Weiss became insane (1864), and spent the rest of his life in an asylum at Vanves, near Paris, where he died in 1881.
