Burgmann, Johann Christian

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Lutheran doctor and professor of theology of Germany, was born at Rostock, where he also studied, as well as in Jena and Wittenberg. In 1724 he was appointed pastor of the Holy Ghost Church in his native place; in 1726 he was made doctor of theology; in 1735, professor of theology; in 1754, senior of the theological faculty; and, in 1760, director of the ministerium and senior of the academy.
