Martyr, died Egypt, 362. He was a Roman general and consul, converted to Christianity, and exiled to Egypt by Julian the Apostate. Hroswitha has dramatized his conversion. A church in Trastevere, Rome, is named for him. With him are commemorated two 6th-century Bishops of Embrun, named Gallicanus. Feast, June 25,.
