William Baxter Godbey
William Baxter Godbey (1833-1920) was an influential figure in the Methodist Episcopal Church South and one of the most ardent evangelists and preachers of the Holiness Movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born in Pulaski County, Kentucky, Godbey's religious journey led him to become a pivotal voice in the spread of Wesleyan Methodism and the broader Holiness Movement across the United States.
Godbey's early life was marked by a profound spiritual awakening that steered him towards the ministry. After receiving his education, he was ordained as a Methodist Episcopal minister, dedicating his life to the service of God and the church.
